Alright! Laurel Fitts and Justine Cox commented!

Luarel Fitts- Congrats on writing your book! That’s like half the battle, actually getting to the title ‘author.’ Sounds like a book I might want to read, I’ll contact you.

Justine Cox- I’m so happy you like it. I actually wrote a bunch of it while I was in class, and got in trouble for writing while the teacher was talking. Isn’t that funny?!

hey Dakota! Jackie here and i just want to say that your book has given me true inspiration and motivation to write. it is incredibly amazing that someone so young, and with so much talent, was given a gift such as this. i can’t wait for Beyond the Ketha to came out, and Flash of Freedom was so awesometastic that i’m currently reading it a second time! it was full of amazing plot lines and always left me on the edge of my seat, grasping for more. i wanted it to go on and on, to never end, but as we all know, all books have a close, and this was definentally one of the best that i have ever read! thank you soo much for sharing your creative gift with all of us :)

    god bless,
    Jackie Donofrio

  9. Cowgirlboots says on :

    Thanks for commenting Jackie Donofrio,
I love the word ‘awesometastic.’ I think it should be a real word. But anyway!
I’m beaming that you found me as motivation, and that you are writing more! Something I think is good to remember is this, don’t ever doubt that your book can be one of the best books ever. Bestseller lists, New York times, everything. It will come across in your writing and when people meet you they will remember you as the girl who is going places. (a bit of a run on sentence there, sorry) I think that the main reason people find themselves not in the place they want to be, is because they gave up. Or didn’t actually think they could do it. Please don’t be like them! I don’t think you will anyway.

Haha, thanks :) . i really did used to have quite a problem with writing though. i always had alot of ideas and flitted from one story to the next, never really deciding on which i’d like to finish. but seeing someone like you who is my age AND has written and published her book gives me a new insight. its just like ‘hey, i can do that!’ its really cool. i’m currently working on the fourth chapter of my book and i’m soo excited to work on getting it published and sold when the time comes around.

    God bless
    Jackie

  11. Your Neighbor says on :

    Hi Dakota!

Great job! I read your book while on vacation at the beach. Nicely done! Congratulations, neighbor!

  12. Cowgirlboots says on :

Thanks Jackie Donofrio and Your Neighbor (or should I say my neighbor?) for commenting,

Jackie Donofrio- Going from idea to idea is perfectly fine, I did that a lot. I went to about page five in some notebook, and I really thought I was going to finish that story. But then I just, well, never picked that particular notebook up again.
That is, until I put horses in my writing! I have figured out now that if I write about something I love, then I can’t wait to write. Looks like you found what is fun for you to write about too, since your on chapter four. That’s great!

Your Neighbor- Alright! I’m so glad you like it! Didn’t know all this book stuff was going on over at my house, did yall?

Flash of freedom was absolutley inspiring. It describes the difficulties in moving, the values of friends, the sweetness and downfalls of victory.
thats all i got. You did a great job dakota, i can see your really making a diffrence and inspiring others.
I like how you put your intrests into your wrighting, horses. To be honest i havent ride a horse since i was ten. :P But i really enjoyed it when i did.

  14. Cowgirlboots says on :

Thanks Cola for comming back and commenting again!
Wow, I’m really glad I got all that in there. Did you know that I have never moved in my life. So I am pretty close to guessing what it’s like when I make Tara move around a lot.
Glad you liked horse back riding! Where you sore after you rode? Most people who don’t have ‘riding muscles’ feel like that afterwards.

not really i play soccer so and swim alot idk if this counts but me and my nieghbor made my lawn mower go fast some how im such a great machanic. and i drove that around :D not 2 mention it broke a month after we did that :O
well moving 4 me was difficult especially in a huge family and i have roots in boston for hundreds of years. i had alot of friends there too but moving wasnt that hard just i had to get used to the southern-ness -still not used to it- btw but im improving. I have just as much friends up here but im not really a shy person sooooo i wrote alot :p
i try to visit ur site when i can. every other time i check my email

  16. Cowgirlboots says on :

cola- whoa, you rigged your lawn mower!? That’s crazy, and I wish I knew how to do something like that.
boston is such a cold place(says mom, who went to Tufts university) it must be so different here even in temperature. I want to know, was moving EVER fun?
    -Dakota

  17. cola says on :

lol my nabour did it was really fun well it lasted.
hey Boston is cold. Yeah moving is fun in some ways like revisiting memories, gives you meaning it gets me to be thankful for wat i had well i had it. i value my friends more because of it. its a new adventure and you really learn from it in so many ways. Places people are so different like different sayings i cant use in school, because people would think id gone mad my favorite mistake was my first day in nc i asked, “where on earth is the water bubbler???” and i had an accent and everything, so i talked different they’re like wat is that??? its a water fountain btw. lol :P
i kinda stopped saying wicked, i still use some phrases and people who i hangout with alot have to stop me and ask me what it ment or something. :P its just fun, it hurts too though. real bad. but ya know i denied it at first, after a month i realized i wouldn’t go back to my house i got real sad, cried a day or so then i got kinda mad? then i laughed, i laughed and i laughed and i laughed and im still laughing. its just the way i handle things now.
I mean i would have never met any of you guys ever. think about it, i was different in MA. schools where diffrent, everything. I could have been a totally different person. idk. but wat can i do but look on the bright side, so yeah moving is fun i soooo many ways im still learning but it hurts. everything comes with a cost right?
    :P wrote alot!!!!!! srry.

  18. Cowgirlboots says on :

    Cola,
I like the saying ‘wicked’. Wish we used it more around here. Would it be better if we all asked you more about your old home? Or better if those memories stayed in the past? Did it feel like MA didn’t exist anymore, or like you kept expecting for things to be the same as they were? I’m curious about it, because Tara had to go through this. I want to know what she could have felt, or what I could have made her feel. I think that the pros and cons of moving are about even from what you wrote. If you look at it the right way. Maybe it’s better not to move, or maybe the other way around. I guess it depends on the person. :/

  21. Lydia Eisenbeis says on :

    Dakota,
When you publish your next book let me know! I can’t wait to keep reading your books they are Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. Lydia Eisenbeis says on :

also it was so great to meet you at the Apex peak fest!!!!!

  23. Cowgirlboots says on :

Thanks Cola and Lydia for commenting,
Cola- (We just had a field trip to this Japaneese resturant, telling those of you who weren’t there) I completely agree

Lydia- Keep writing, girl! Don’t be discouraged if you don’t like your book or you topic all of the sudden and you don’t want to write anymore. It took a while for me to find the perfect story, characters, and plot that made me want to keep writing. I think I’m about halfway through my next book. Either that or I will have to split this book in two, because I don’t want it to drag on and on. Still deciding
